In this series of paintings, I'm exploring longing and nostalgia as imagined in my future. I often think of the parenting axiom, "if you do your job well, some day they will leave you...", which is, of course, only a partial truth. So, in this series of paintings, of my youngest child turned away from me, facing the world, seemingly without need for me, I begin to approach what this will feel like years down the road.
These paintings are all done on fabric covered wood panels, sized approximately 5.5" x 5.5". I'm working with acrylic, watercolor and ink/graphite as I layer and explore.
