In the Spring of 2026, I partnered with the local transfer station in my county- Windham Solid Waste Management District- to create a pilot artist residency program at the dump. This project received grant funding from the Brattleboro Town Arts Fund. I am working closely with the outreach coordinator, Alex Lacy, to offer community opportunties to both educate the public about our waste stream and also to invite engagement in creating the installation that I have designed. This artwork will be installed at the transfer station in late 2026 and its material composition is single use plastic bags that have been picked from the recycling stream at the transfer station and saved from becoming part of the larger waste stream at the dump.

Washing the trash on my clothesline- all the collected plastic film first undergoes a thorough washing on my line!

Multiple opportunities for education and engagement with the project include art camps, summer reading programs and farmers’ markets.

The final installation will measure approximately 6’ x 24’ and will be located on the red building just below the white strip of siding.
